I was born and raised in Japan, where I attended St. Mary's International School, a Canadian Catholic school in Tokyo, Japan. Because I traveled extensively in my youth, I grew up speaking English, Japanese, and Chinese, which helps me immensely to understand and communicate with people from diverse ethnic backgrounds. I graduated from the University Of Illinois Abraham Lincoln College Of Medicine in 1980, and when I started work as a medical doctor at a major Chicago hospital, I became aware that Japanese expatriates in Illinois were not receiving adequate medical care because of language and cultural barriers. In order to rectify the situation, I opened the first clinic in Chicago in 1986 to meet the special needs of the area's Japanese expatriate community. Nihon Clinic has created a network of clinics in the U.S. and has expanded into Asia, so that we can provide better service to our patients.
Nihon Clinic provides a wide range of medical services, including: family practice, internal medicine, orthopedics, physical therapy, dermatology, pediatrics, radiology, chiropractic, dentistry and podiatry. We integrate these Western medical services with Eastern traditional medicine such as: acupuncture, qi gong, and herbal medicine. Furthermore, as part of our emphasis on preventive health care, we offer Japanese style comprehensive physical checkups.
